Buying Adventure For Mountain Rose GIFTS!

On this day a GIANT Mick Jagger greeted us as we headed into the wholesale gift and home decor market in downtown L.A. There's no place like Los Angeles! How I enjoy living here!

There was a heatwave outside but that didn't stop us from making purchases from Valentine's through Christmas and everything in between. Here we are in Christmas mode...

...and there we are in Easter mode. Dale has such good taste! It was such a fun day.

Just when this display started to look very tempting...

...the iced coffee lady came around! Perfect timing! Can it get better than this?

YES! Yes it can. I had to practice tremendous self control ( 9th fruit of the Spirit) when the See's Candy Lady showed up. I only took two but I wanted like ten. I like the See's candy lady.

After a long day, from morning 'til late night shopping, it was time to relax at one of our favorite Glendale restaurants DAMON'S STEAK HOUSE. They are famous for several things one of them being this salad with shredded beets that they spin and toss table side. Round and round we go!

The theme is Polynesian and most enjoyable. Come visit MOUNTAIN ROSE GIFTS as we head into this Fall season and see all the new goodies. We have been shopping all year for this! Oh and THANKS for reading my blog! :-)

Sylvia's Valentine Lunch

It's not everyday one turns 80. My dear friend Sylvia (standing next to me) celebrated this milestone earlier this month and the rejoicing continues. She has been such a godly example and inspiration to us and I wanted to do something special that she would enjoy. She is full of the joy of the Lord. She looks amazing doesn't she!

All of us are "foodies" and love the Lord so this venue was right up our alley.

Here's a closer look at our table. The beautiful heart pics were crafted by none other than Mary S and beautifully adorned my raspberry muffins.

We started off with Valentine Kahlua coffee, piled high with whipped cream.

We all enjoyed this freshly baked focaccia from a famous Chatsworth Italian deli.

This healthy hummus is made with garbanzo beans, tahini paste, and lemons, and topped with Spanish paprika and black sesame seeds.

Sylvia loves to bake and brought this colorful platter of sugar cookies and meringues.

Colleen's roasted squash with avocado, fresh basil, and smoked mozzarella was off the charts good.

Paying homage to Sylvia's Italian heritage we enjoyed heart shaped Caprese salad with lots of fresh, cracked pepper.

Here we have roasted fingerling potatoes with lemon zest and oregano.

A foodie afternoon like this would not be complete without two episodes of The Pioneer Woman!

My friend from Turkey gave me this silver vase and I wanted her to see how lovely it looks on my mantle. It brings joy to my heart every time I look at it.

What a blessed Valentine birthday celebration this was! Let's do it again! Happy Valentine's Day! Thank you Lord for the special women you have put in my life!

Lunch & Boutique at The Sportsman's Lodge

Surrounded by film studios, the Sportsmen's Lodge, on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City has quite a past. In years gone by it was a famous hangout for the old Hollywood crowd. Clark Gable, Bette Davis, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Spencer Tracy, and Katherine Hepburn, just to name a few.

Today it is a hotel with meeting rooms, dining options, and a popular film location used by shows like CSI. This day, we had the pleasure of bringing our wares from Mountain Rose GIFTS and Revelation TOPS to the Republican Women's Club and being treated to a delicious lunch.

The spacious room was ready for guests when we arrived.

Is that a serene view or what?

We had fun setting up our traveling boutique!

Here's a closer look.

Our new Christmas TOPS and light up Christmas pictures were the hit of the day.

It was nice being ladies who lunch.

The Salmon with Dill sauce was perfection on a plate!

So was the Bread Pudding in a pool of Custard with Pecans.

I had to snap this shot of Carole wearing our new BOOT TOPPERS, the "must have" item for Fall/Winter!

What a pleasant time this work day held. So good to see friends, be welcomed so graciously, and share time with women of like mind.

How To Make A Pumpkin From A Book!

We did it!!! Last week our Christian Women's Fellowship got together for a night of fellowship and crafting fun, transforming our old paperbacks into one of a kind, keepsake pumpkins!

First, preparing our room and hearts to hear from the Lord, we lit pumpkin scented candles, played soft music, read from the Bible, and listened to messages on transformation & thanksgiving. In the same way we were transforming a book, God promises to completely transform those who belong to Him. Good news!

There is nothing like fellowship in the Lord. It's a very simple thing. God uses His people to exhort and encourage one another.

There's something about a candle in a Mason jar that warms the soul.

Food and breaking bread is part of our fellowship. Sylvia's Pumpkin Roll was almost too pretty to cut...but we did.

Highway Highlands Farm Hot Pepper Jelly from the Montrose Harvest Market over cream cheese with crackers...divine!

This crockpot has been with me since the 80's! This night it held a new recipe: Hot Spiced Apple Tea made with superior, flower studded, Prince of Wales tea.

Here's our pumpkin sample. Can we do it?

1st step: using an exacto knife to shape the pages into a pumpkin.

Next step: painting the edges of the book.

Gourmet touches: adding a stem and leaves...burlap is so on trend!

It's not everyday that we use a saw in a women's meeting. LOL!...or carry knives for that matter.

Ohhhh! Love this pumpkin!

Mary S even hand stamped tags for us to help us remember to be thankful for what God has given us, especially those things we tend to take for granted.
