Last night we headed to church early to prepare for an exciting presentation by Ann & Ray Vincent of The Chatsworth Historical Society. It was about the history of Lake Manor, home to our precious little Chatsworth Lake Church. On the way I was prompted to snap a pic of Stoney Point, a historic landmark within walking distance from our home.
Here in SoCal we are in the midst of a major heatwave, but that didn't stop folks from coming out to learn about the community we love so much. I took this pic early and by the time the presentation started most seats were filled with the local fireman in the "standing room only" foyer.
Ann & Ray did such a great job and there was so much interesting history to take in. The 1 hour presentation literally flew by and there was an excitement and sense of wonder in the room thinking about days gone by.
Having the maiden name Lyon, I was particularly fascinated to hear about the two French men who made their way out here and married the Chumash Indian land owner's daughters. Here is a slide of one of their adobes on our church property!!! Amazing!
Of course my heart skipped a beat when our beloved chapel flashed on the screen! Having thanks that the Lord led us here and preserved this beautiful place where we can go and worship Him, enjoy His people, and be taught His Word. If you think what we heard last night was interesting wait until you hear what's in the Bible!
We so enjoy our fellowship time each Sunday right on this very patio!
As if the evening weren't exciting enough, our church was presented with this momento of the Dolmec Adobe. We plan to display it for all to enjoy.
Here my husband Dale, our Pastor, is posing with Ann for the "paparrazzi", local photographer Lori Lussier Lawrence, another French sister. The joy on their faces reflects what a wonderful evening we all had together. I have a feeling this is just the beginning...
